LDPE

LDPE is a flexible, lightweight thermoplastic made from ethylene monomers with a highly branched molecular structure. It has excellent chemical resistance and is commonly used in plastic bags, squeeze bottles, and film applications. Its low crystallinity gives it a soft texture and high impact resistance.

HDPE

HDPE is a rigid, high-strength polymer with minimal branching, resulting in a dense and crystalline structure. It is widely used in containers, pipes, and geomembranes due to its durability and chemical resistance. HDPE has a higher melting point and better load-bearing capacity than LDPE. It is also recyclable and marked with resin code #2.

LLDPE

LLDPE is a copolymer of ethylene and alpha-olefins, offering a balance between flexibility and strength. It has short, linear branches that improve tensile strength and puncture resistance compared to LDPE. Commonly used in stretch films, garbage bags, and flexible tubing. It is less transparent than LDPE but more durable in thin-film applications

Polypropylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic known for its high chemical resistance and low density. It is used in packaging, automotive parts, textiles, and medical devices. PP has excellent fatigue resistance and can withstand repeated bending. It is also resistant to moisture and has a melting point around 160–170°C.

PS

Polystyrene is a rigid, transparent thermoplastic made from styrene monomers. It exists in solid (GPPS), impact-resistant (HIPS), and foamed (EPS) forms. PS is commonly used in disposable cutlery, CD cases, insulation, and packaging. While inexpensive and easy to mold, it is brittle and has poor UV resistance.

It is flame-retardant and chemically resistant but can release harmful gases when burned. Plasticizers like DOP are often added to enhance flexibility.

POM has excellent dimensional stability and wear resistance. It comes in homopolymer and copolymer forms, each with slightly different thermal and chemical properties.

PET is a strong, lightweight thermoplastic polyester used in beverage bottles, food containers, and synthetic fibers. It has excellent clarity, chemical resistance, and barrier properties. PET is recyclable and often used in textiles under the name “polyester.” It is formed by polymerizing ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid.

PA refers to a family of polymers known as nylons, characterized by repeating amide linkages. It offers high mechanical strength, wear resistance, and thermal stability. Common types include PA6 and PA66, used in automotive, textiles, and industrial applications. PA absorbs moisture, which can affect its dimensional stability.

PC is a transparent, impact-resistant thermoplastic made from bisphenol A and phosgene. It is used in eyewear lenses, safety shields, electronics, and automotive components. PC offers high heat resistance and dimensional stability but is sensitive to scratching and UV degradation. It is often blended with other polymers like ABS for enhanced properties.
